Woodpecker Farm Foods presents food products that are all natural, Old Virginia family Recipes. It is owned by Charles and Pat Linton of Woodpecker Farm. Charles is a great grandson of George Washington's sister, Betty Washington Lewis of Kenmore in Fredericksburg, Va. In 1993 we decided to share some of the family recipes that were passed down through the years. First a word about Woodpecker Farm. "Woodpecker" was built in 1750 by Samuel Hawes. An 1820 addition was added when his granddaughter married Col. John Washington, cousin and aide-de-camp of General George Washington. It stayed in the Washington family until about 1940. After several interim owners, the Linton's bought it in 1972 so it is back in the family. In the eleven years since we incorporated WFFI, we have strived to bring you the best recipes available. A lot of them are from Colonial times and passed down through our family. We have tried to stay as authentic as possible, but have had to substitute ingredients or methods along the way (baking powder is a good example.) Try some of these great products and see for yourself how history and modern times have combined to bring you the "best of the best."
