Pasta Valente began in what was Fran Valente's sewing room with a hand crank pasta machine. She first made pasta for family and friends. On Saturdays she began to go to the Farmer's Market in Charlottesville, Virginia where she discovered that her customers had developed an avid appetite for her products. The Valente family traditionally made Italian-style egg pasta, to which Fran and her daughter Mary Ann added many other flavors.
